WORLD POETRY DAY

World poetry day is Thursday, March 21st, this day was invented by Antonio Pastor Bustamante. It is said that March is the month of poetry.

Poetry was created in Greece in the 7th century BC.

Poetry is a literary genre that awakens the senses through words and the creation of beauty in language and also cultivates imagination and memory.  It is used in songs, graffiti, advertisments...Poets express emotions, feelings or sensations trought writing. 
 
Poetry consists of the representation of a feeling, a story or an idea in an aesthetic way and promoting its beauty. Poetry allows the perception of real and imaginary emotions, experiences and feelings, the creation of another reality and the dialogue with oneself.

Poetry is distinguished by rhythm and rhyme that give cadence to the composition. There are different types: lyrical poetry, epic, haiku, sonnet, limerick and free verse.

The most important poet in Spain is Federico García Lorca.

The best poet of the 20th century is Octavio Paz.

And the most romantic poet is William Shakespeare.
