When is Book Day celebrated?

On Tuesday, April 23rd, Book Day is celebrated. This day was established in 1976. On April 23rd, 1616, Cervantes, Shakespeare, and Lope de la Vega, who were famous writers of the time, died.

What activities can you do on Book Day?

On Book Day you can do different activities such as organizing a book fair, organizing a book signing or organizing a story-telling. 

The main idea to celebrate book day originated in Catalonia, from the Valencian writer Vicente Clavel Andrés, who promoted culture through books.

What does book day mean?

Book Day, April 23rd, is a day of solidarity, joy and celebration; a good part of its activities must promote reading with the aim of achieving universal access to culture through books.
