INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY

International Mother Language Day is celebrated on the 21st of February.

The objetive is to promote linguístic diversity and multilingual education.

The mother tongue is the first language you learn when you start speaking and where you grow up with.

It is called mother tongue because in the past the father went to work and the mother stayed home teaching the children their language and maternal comes from mother.

It is important because it is part of each person and it is important to preserve it because it is teaches values such as tolerance and respect.

It is acquired in childhood through interaction with surrounding adults. The most widespread mother tongue was Nahuati. 

There are 7,000 languages, the oldest in the world is Basque.

It is said that Basque is an island language because its origins are unknown. 

Spanish represents 7.5% of the world's language.
