Geology for everyone. Workshops with magnifying glasses and microscopes acompanied by childrend's activities with minerals and fossils. Minerals are recognized, their relationship whit their structurebandbthe study of their growth is simple with magnifying glasses. The nocks are observed through thin sheets to know their history and properties.

We interviewed Dr. DAVID BENAVENTE, professor at the Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Alicante and Coordinator of this Stand.
How long have you been working at the university?
I have been a teacher at this university for 21 years, including the research and training years, 30 in total.
How many years has this Science Day been celebrated?
Science Day has been celebrated for 5-6 years.
Do you like your job?
Yes, it is
an exciting job, I research and teach, it is very rewarding.

What is the workshop you do?
Geology, people think of something very big, rocks and mountains. But you can see a lot of Geology in a microscope to see minerals.
What is this Science Day for?
So that people can easily see our work.
Have you left Spain?
Yes, many times. We do research and training periods in Universities abroad, for example Alaska, studying a Volcano.
In geology we work: fossils, mountains, caves, mineral resources, land to build, volcanoes, conservation of buildings, Local and national or International earthquakes.
What do you have to study to become a Geologist?
Geology Degree: 4 courses + 1 year master
When you were little, did you like research or geology?
A lot, especially fossils.
